Heartbreak in Ibadan: Stampede Claims Young Lives

Multiple children have tragically lost their lives in a stampede at a children’s funfair held at Basorun Islamic High School in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when a large crowd of children, estimated to be over 7,500, attempted to enter the venue, exceeding the planned capacity of 5,000.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the incident and stated that the government is working to provide medical assistance to the injured.

The state government has urged parents concerned about their children’s whereabouts to check specific hospitals in Ibadan where victims have been taken for treatment.

The Commissioner of Police is currently investigating the incident to determine the exact number of casualties.

The stampede has sparked widespread grief and calls for improved safety measures at public events, particularly those involving children.
