Nigeria’s Defence Minister Hails Successes Against Insurgency

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Matawalle, has revealed that the country’s armed forces have made significant strides in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other threats to national security.

Speaking during a meeting with Hadiza Usman, Special Assistant to the President on Policy and Coordination, Mr Matawalle noted that while many of these successes remain undisclosed for security reasons, they demonstrate the effectiveness of the military’s efforts.

The Minister attributed the reduction in oil theft, bunkering, piracy, and kidnapping to the government’s commitment to securing the country. He assured Nigerians that the administration is dedicated to making the country safer for all.

Mr. Matawalle also promised to submit achievement data to the presidency for review, highlighting the importance of transparency in the military’s operations.

Meanwhile, Hadiza Usman advised the Ministry of Defence to share more data with the public to demonstrate the successes achieved by the armed forces. She suggested conducting regional tours to gather firsthand information from rescued individuals and showcase the government’s efforts to address insecurity.
