The US Marshals Service has issued a warrant for the arrest of Nigerian national Olalekan Abimbola Olawusi, offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Olawusi is wanted in connection with the alleged murder of his three-month-old son in Rhode Island in 2017.
According to US authorities, Olawusi was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse after his infant son was found severely injured in April 2017. The child later died from his injuries. Olawusi was released on bail but subsequently fled the US.
The US Marshals Service believes Olawusi may have returned to Nigeria and is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them. The agency has described Olawusi as a potential danger to the public.
