Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Mohammed Abubakar, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to combating terrorism in West Africa and the African region by supporting the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Centre (IMCTC).
This assurance came during a meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition from Saudi Arabia, led by Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi.
A statement signed by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations, highlighted the Minister’s willingness to collaborate with IMCTC to achieve shared objectives. Minister Abubakar emphasized the urgent need to address terrorism in West Africa and Africa, stressing that the region “is bleeding” and requires collective support. During the meeting, Major General Al-Moghidi noted the existing bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, aiming to strengthen ties through intelligence sharing and training. This partnership underscores Nigeria’s dedication to regional and global security, recognizing the importance of collective action in combating terrorism.
