Kogi State Launches 20km Rural Road Project to Boost Food Security

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has launched the construction of a 20km rural road connecting parts of Lokoja and Adavi local government areas. The Obajana-Uro-Aku road project is part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), supported by the World Bank Group, aiming to improve access to farms, communities, and markets, ensuring food security in the state.

In a statement signed by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Ododo emphasized the crucial role of rural roads in his administration’s development agenda, highlighting their potential to boost transportation, rural economic growth, and food security. He also stressed the importance of connectivity for farmers and traders, bringing governance closer to local communities.

Abdulmutalib Mohammed, State Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, noted that the project will benefit farmers by reducing transportation costs and increasing accessibility. The National Co-ordinator of RAAMP, Aminu Bodinga, commended Governor Ododo’s commitment to rural development, praising the project’s potential to enhance connectivity and access to markets.
