Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, Returns to Sokoto to Boost Anti-Banditry Efforts

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has arrived in Sokoto for the second time in two months, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the region. This visit was mandated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Government’s Commitment to Security
Mr. Matawalle emphasized the government’s unwavering dedication to combating insecurity, stating, “We will never leave you alone, and I assure you, we will win this war against bandits and those supporting them.” He expressed optimism about ongoing military operations in the Northwest, particularly Operation “Fansan Yamma”.

Call for Cooperation
The Minister urged political leaders across all parties to support President Tinubu’s efforts, emphasizing the need for collaboration with stakeholders to achieve their targets. He also warned bandits and their supporters that the government will not relent in its efforts, stating, “We will never be intimidated or spare these criminals”
