INEC Accredits 114 Media Organisations for Edo Governorship Election, Opens Portal for Ondo Election Coverage

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accredited 114 media organisations to cover the forthcoming Edo State governorship election. The accredited media organisations, comprising newspapers, radio, television, and online media, have successfully uploaded the details of 721 personnel to cover the election.

The Commission also announced that the dedicated portal for online accreditation of journalists and media organisations wishing to cover the Ondo State Governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024, will open on September 9, 2024, and close on October 31, 2024.

This was disclosed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, who signed both statements on behalf of the Commission.

The Commission reassured all accredited media organisations, observers, and political party agents that their accreditation tags will be ready ahead of the elections.

INEC appealed to media organisations and observers to abide by their codes of professional ethics, the law, and the Commission’s regulations and guidelines in their reportage and observation of processes and procedures before, during, and after the elections.
