Nigeria Defence Minister Visits Sokoto State Amid Security Concerns

The Nigerian Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has visited Sokoto State as part of the federal government’s efforts to address security challenges in the Northwest region.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, Minister Matawalle reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating security threats in the region.

“The safety of the people of Sokoto, and indeed the entire Northwest, is a top priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Mr. Matawalle said.

He also visited the 8 Division Headquarters, where he met with troops from Operation Hadarin Daji and conveyed a direct order from the President to intensify efforts to flush out bandits and terrorists.

Governor Aliyu expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support and emphasized the importance of unity in tackling security challenges.

The Minister’s visit comes amid ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the region, which has faced significant challenges due to banditry and terrorism.
