Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Federal Government is finalising emergency plans to evacuate its citizens currently stranded in Israel and Iran, following a recent escalation in hostilities between the two nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, that these arrangements are being made as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.
Nigerian citizens in both countries are strongly advised to adhere to necessary security protocols and register with their nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for further instructions. The Ministry commended the efforts of its diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their dedication in reaching out to the Nigerian community during these challenging times. It assured the public that the government remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens abroad, coordinating closely with international partners and local authorities to ensure a timely and secure evacuation.
In parallel with its evacuation efforts, the Nigerian government has reiterated its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging all parties involved to embrace dialogue. Abuja also stressed the importance of respecting international humanitarian law and prioritising the protection of civilians in the conflict zone. Nigeria affirmed its unwavering support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability, according to Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
