Diaspora Engagement: NIDCOM Receives Accolades from Foreign Relations Experts

Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has received high praise from the Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria for its outstanding work in promoting diaspora engagement. Amb Garba Lawal, President of the Association, commended NIDCOM as an essential partner and strategic force in implementing Nigeria’s foreign policy.

During a courtesy call on Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Lawal emphasized the need for closer collaboration between the two organizations to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives, particularly in relation to human elements. He also urged NIDCOM staff to participate in the Association’s training programs to enhance their skills in diaspora engagement.

In response, Dabiri-Erewa welcomed the partnership and encouraged the Association to share its expertise and insights, especially as NIDCOM reviews its National Diaspora Policy. She expressed her enthusiasm for working together to explore opportunities for mutual growth and development.

As part of the partnership, NIDCOM will participate in the Association’s mentorship and training activities. The Association’s annual conference is scheduled to take place on February 21, 2025, with Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as the host.
