Nigeria’s Defence Minister Condoles with Jigawa Governor Over Mother’s Passing

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has extended his condolences to the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, following the passing of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar. She died on December 25, 2024.

In a statement signed by Mati Ali, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister, Mr. Abubakar expressed his deep sorrow and conveyed his sympathies to Governor Namadi, his family and the people of Jigawa State. He described the loss as a significant tragedy and prayed for the eternal repose of Hajiya Maryam’s soul.

Hajiya Maryam’s passing has been met with an outpouring of condolences from across the state and beyond. Her burial rites took place on December 26, 2024, in accordance with Islamic traditions, in her hometown of Kafin Hausa.

Governor Namadi, who is currently on an official trip to China, has expressed his gratitude for the condolences and requested prayers for his mother’s soul. The Jigawa State government has described Hajiya Maryam as a pillar of strength and an inspiration to her family and community
