Nigeria’s Defence Minister Condemns Amaechi’s ‘Inciteful’ Remarks

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has strongly condemned former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s recent statements, accusing him of inciting violence and unrest among Nigerians.

Mr. Matawalle warned Mr. Amaechi to refrain from making inflammatory remarks that threaten national peace and stability. He expressed concern over the dangers of such rhetoric, calling it “reckless and irresponsible” for a former public servant to incite Nigerians against their government.

“At a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to address national challenges through reforms, it’s absurd and shameful to exploit citizens’ genuine situations for selfish political gain,” Mr. Matawalle said.

The Minister reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding peace and security, warning that attempts to destabilize the country through incitement won’t be tolerated. “We won’t allow anyone to fuel violence or manipulate our people’s situation. This serves as a final warning to Amaechi and his cohorts.”

Mr. Matawalle urged Amaechi to join hands with the government to move the country forward, rather than making what he called “myopic assertions” that cast aspersions on government intentions.
