N72,500 Minimum Wage Takes Effect in Kogi State

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has announced a new minimum wage of 72,500 Naira for civil servants in the state, effective immediately.

This move is part of Governor Ododo’s efforts to demonstrate his administration’s commitment to being labor-friendly. The new wage excludes tax burdens on civil servants for a year, providing much-needed relief.

Governor Ododo made this announcement during a meeting with labor union leaders at the Government House in Lokoja.

The state’s Head of Service, Elijah Evinemi, who chairs the Implementation Committee on the new minimum wage, praised the collaborative efforts of committee members and labor leaders.

Labor leaders have welcomed this development, with Amari Gabriel of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Suleiman Tijani of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) commending Governor Ododo’s commitment to workers’ welfare
