The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect of Edo State, presenting them with Certificates of Return.
The ceremony, held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja, was attended by prominent figures, including:
- National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje
- Reinstated Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu
- Senators, Matthew Uroghide and Francis Alimikhena
- General Cecil Esekhaigbe (retd)
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, was represented by Prof. Rhoda Gumus, who presented the certificates.
Election Results
Okpebholo, the APC candidate, secured 291,667 votes, defeating:
- Asue Ighodalo (PDP) with 247,274 votes
- Olumide Akpata (Labour Party) with 22,763 votes
However, Governor Godwin Obaseki, the PDP, LP, and their candidates have rejected the outcome.
