As Guinea navigates a fragile transition period, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is pushing for inclusive dialogue to ensure a stable future.
Memounatou Ibrahima, Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, emphasized the need for dialogue during a high-stakes meeting with Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah. She warned that without collective effort, the country risks further instability.
“Guinea’s transition is a test case for West Africa’s ability to manage change peacefully,” Ibrahima said. “We must prioritize dialogue to build trust and create a shared vision for the country’s future.”
Ibrahima’s visit coincided with a regional conference on health and education, highlighting ECOWAS’ commitment to supporting Guinea’s development. However, the political stakes remain high, and the international community is watching closely.
With Guinea’s future hanging in the balance, ECOWAS’ call for dialogue offers a glimmer of hope. The question on everyone’s mind is if it will be enough to bring the country’s rival factions together and secure a peaceful transition?
