The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), a political advocacy group, has rejected opposition politicians’ claims that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is neglecting Northern Nigeria, pointing to major infrastructure, transport, and energy projects underway across the region.
In a joint statement, Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo argued that federal capital investments in the North under the current government show a clear commitment to regional economic development and national cohesion.
Addressing specific regional developments, the TMSG noted that the $2.8 billion, 614-kilometre Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline has reached 95% completion as of August 2026, following presidential directives to resolve long-standing operational bottlenecks and supply gas to dormant industrial hubs.
The group also highlighted progress across key rail and transport networks, including the Kaduna-Kano line due for completion in December 2026, and the Kano-Daura-Katsina section of the Kano-Maradi railway line, which remains on schedule, with final international links to the Niger Republic targeted for 2027. Construction is similarly progressing on the 1,068-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry superhighway—a trans-regional trade corridor linking northern states to Lagos—alongside the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway using reinforced concrete pavement.
Beyond transport and energy, the statement pointed to major federal healthcare investments, including facility upgrades at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, the modernization of over 1,000 primary health centres, and more than N1.5 trillion in ongoing regional projects managed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The TMSG urged citizens across northern states to disregard political claims of abandonment, maintaining that the administration’s footprint across energy, transport, and healthcare sectors reflects an equitable distribution of federal resources.
