Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming he is seeking appointment as Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign council for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Monday through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike described rumors regarding his alleged ambition to lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign setup as false.
The former Rivers State governor stated he had held no discussions with anyone concerning leadership positions within the campaign structure.
Wike, currently vacationing abroad following a month of infrastructure project inaugurations across Abuja, affirmed his ongoing support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The minister added that holding a formal position within the party’s campaign structure was unnecessary to deliver electoral support for the president in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.
