Nigerian Troops Intensify Anti-Kidnapping Operations Across Plateau, Kaduna States

Abuja, Nigeria –

Nigerian security forces have reported a series of successful operations across Nigeria’s central states, neutralising several kidnappers and rescuing victims during a coordinated offensive between December 11 and 13.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Enduring Peace announced on Monday that the raids were conducted in response to escalating criminal activities in Plateau and Kaduna States.

The JTF disclosed that on December 11, troops raided known kidnappers’ hideouts in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in a firefight and the neutralisation of three suspects. The next day in Plateau State, troops intercepted and killed a notorious bandit and gunrunner along the Jebbu–Gada Biu road who was allegedly responsible for multiple armed robberies and abductions. Security forces also reported successfully foiling a planned attack in Zangon Kataf LGA in Kaduna State, forcing the criminals to abandon their mission.

The operations culminated on December 13 when troops in Plateau State swiftly ambushed a group that had kidnapped four persons, leading to the neutralisation of one kidnapper and the rescue of all four victims alive and unharmed.
