AKOKO, Nigeria—A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has launched a major educational initiative to sponsor the university entrance examinations for 1,000 students in his constituency.
The programme, titled “Ẹ̀KỌ́ DẸ́RỌ̀,” will cover the full cost of registration for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams for candidates across the Akoko North East and North West Federal Constituency.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Blessing Akeju, Mr. Ehindero described the move as a strategic investment in the youth of the region. “Education remains the strongest tool for social mobility and sustainable development,” the statement read. “Through the Ẹ̀KỌ́ DẸ́RỌ̀ Programme, we are deliberately removing barriers that hinder academic dreams.”
The initiative is designed to provide relief to parents and guardians currently struggling with the financial demands of higher education applications. Mr. Ehindero emphasised that no student should be denied the opportunity to advance their studies due to a lack of funds.
The lawmaker’s office stated that details regarding eligibility and the application process would be released through official constituency channels shortly. The move is part of a broader series of legislative interventions aimed at human capital development and youth empowerment in the region.
