A prominent support group for Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a major social investment programme aimed at reaching 50,000 vulnerable citizens across the country by 2027.
The group, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Vanguard (BAT Vanguard), an affiliate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), unveiled the initiative, called the Renewed Hope Social Assistance Project (RHSAP), during its end-of-year ceremony on Sunday, December 15, 2025.

The programme is intended to complement government efforts by providing direct relief, while simultaneously strengthening the group’s nationwide operational chapters through practical delivery and reporting.
Focus on Relief and Mobilisation
National Convener of the BAT Vanguard, Sola Olofin, stated that the initiative was rooted in the belief that “politics must touch lives” and that support for the government should be actively reinforced.
The aid project will focus on several key areas:
- Food Donation: Providing staples such as rice, beans, garri (a popular West African staple made from cassava), and cooking oil.
- Education Support: Distributing essential items like school bags, exercise books, writing materials, and sandals.
- Health and Welfare: Supplying basic medications, sanitary pads, baby essentials, and other hygiene materials, alongside emergency cash grants.

2027 Election Target
In a politically charged address, Mr Olofin, who also chairs the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), shifted focus to the next general election. He asserted that the group, which campaigned extensively for Mr Tinubu’s victory in 2023, is now working to mobilise 10 million votes for the President in the run-up to the 2027 polls.

”As we move forward to 2027, our objective is led, and measured, to mobilise 10 million votes for Mr President,” Mr Olofin said, emphasising the expansion and strengthening of their grassroots structures to achieve this goal.
He also praised President Tinubu for what he called “necessary decisions to reset the country’s economy,” specifically citing the stabilisation of monetary policies and accelerated infrastructure development—a reference to economic reforms that have caused significant hardship for many Nigerians.

Awards for Officials
The event also included an awards ceremony, where the BAT Vanguard honoured several key political and government figures for their service and impact.
Recipients included:
Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director (MD) of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information.
Mohammed Shehu, Chairperson of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Professor Bello Abubakar, Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).
