Nigerian Legal Foundation Expands Scholarship Programme

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation (JASAN Foundation) has announced a significant expansion of its scholarship programme, marking its one-year anniversary and the birthday of its founder, Mr. Johnny Agim, SAN.

The foundation, which was officially launched on 13 September 2024, is increasing the number of beneficiaries for its #Legacy500 Elite Sponsorship Programme from 11 to 30. The announcement, made in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Dr. DornCklaimz E. Enamhe, reiterates a call for applications that was initially made on 19 September 2025.

In its inaugural year, the JASAN Foundation focused on a core vision of mentorship, sponsorship, reforms, and advocacy within Nigeria’s legal profession. Key achievements highlighted by the foundation include:

  • The Legacy Dialogue 1.0: A high-level summit on “Professional identity formation and mentorship in the legal profession” that brought together prominent figures from the Bar, Bench, and academia.
  • Student Sponsorship: Full tuition support was provided to 11 indigent law students for the Nigerian Law School’s 2024/2025 Bar Part II Programme.
  • Strategic Engagements: The foundation strengthened relationships with senior members of the legal community and institutions like the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the National Judicial Council (NJC) to foster collaborations.

Looking ahead, the foundation plans to launch its MSRA Blueprint & Mentorship Platform at its second annual flagship event, #TheLegacyDialogue 2.0. This summit, scheduled for Friday, 24 October 2025, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, will focus on “Institutionalisation of Mentorship in the Legal Profession.” It will also launch the #Legacy500 Elite Mentorship Programme for young lawyers with up to 10 years of professional experience.

The foundation’s commitment to building a lasting legacy, or Aedificans Legatum Legitimum, was noted by its Board of Trustees in a statement expressing gratitude to its supporters.
