The Nigerian government has commended celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her ongoing attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, praised the effort as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.” The commendation was delivered on his behalf by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, at the event in Lagos.

Baci, who gained international recognition in 2023 for breaking the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, is undertaking the new challenge using a six-metre-wide custom-built pot.
According to a statement, the Federal Government “lauds Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in putting Nigeria once again on the global map.” It added that her “dedication to excellence and her unrelenting pursuit of greatness exemplify the Nigerian spirit that the world has come to appreciate.”
The Minister further pledged the Federal Government’s support for Baci’s initiative and similar projects that promote Nigerian talent and culture abroad. He also urged young Nigerians to follow her example of “perseverance, commitment, and legitimate labour,” expressing optimism that her attempt would inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and creatives.
The Minister concluded with a message on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, wishing Baci success and noting that her achievement would be a collective national victory.
