Nigeria’s National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at harnessing the skills and expertise of Nigerians living abroad.
The collaboration is designed to connect local innovators with a global network of Nigerian scientists, engineers, technologists, and entrepreneurs. During a meeting at the NiDCOM headquarters, the heads of both agencies, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Halilu, and NiDCOM’s Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the initiative as a “timely intervention.”
Mr. Halilu highlighted two key projects for the collaboration: a government-backed, multi-currency payment platform to facilitate low-cost, real-time transfers, and a programme to engage the diaspora in developing practical projects that can boost the Nigerian economy. He noted that NiDCOM’s extensive database of professionals will be a crucial resource for this effort.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa stated that the partnership would create new opportunities for Nigerians worldwide to contribute to the nation’s progress, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” She also encouraged the NASENI team to participate in the upcoming 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in November 2025.
A joint working committee is being established by both agencies to define specific projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and to streamline wider diaspora engagement.
