Cairo, Egypt – A train derailment in Egypt has resulted in at least three deaths and 103 injuries, according to the Ministry of Health. The incident occurred on August 30 near the city of Matrouh when seven carriages of a train travelling from Marsa Matrouh to Alexandria went off the tracks.
The derailment, which happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. in a desert area, was reportedly caused by a track failure. Two of the carriages overturned, prompting a major emergency response. Over 50 ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and hospitals in the region were placed on high alert. The Ministry of Health confirmed that 87 of the injured had been treated and discharged by the evening.
