Nigerian Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Dismantle Notorious Gang

Abuja, Nigeria – Nigerian police have rescued five kidnap victims and dismantled a notorious criminal gang in separate operations conducted across Kebbi and Abia states.

The breakthroughs were announced in a statement by the force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi. In Kebbi State, police on patrol in the Dankade Village area on August 15 engaged a group of armed bandits in a gun battle. During the confrontation, two victims were rescued. They had been kidnapped on August 9 while grazing cattle in a forest in neighbouring Zamfara State.

In a separate operation in Abia State, officers acting on intelligence raided a kidnapper’s hideout in Ukwa West Local Government Area. The gang was known for terrorising residents and commuters along major roads. According to the police statement, a gun duel ensued, resulting in the deaths of five gang members. Police recovered six AK-47 rifles, a large quantity of ammunition, and other weapons from the scene.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the officers involved in the operations and urged them to intensify efforts to combat crime across the country. He reiterated the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
