Brentford Reject Newcastle’s £40m Bid for Yoane Wissa

LONDON, ENGLAND
– Brentford have rejected an improved £40 million bid from Newcastle for striker Yoane Wissa, stating the offer falls below their valuation of the player. The bid, which consisted of an initial £35 million fee plus £5 million in add-ons, was Newcastle’s second attempt to sign the 28-year-old.

According to BBC Sport, sources close to the deal indicate that Newcastle reopened talks with Brentford on Wednesday. This followed a meeting between Wissa and Brentford owner Matthew Benham on Tuesday, a development that prompted the new discussions.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international has signaled his desire to move to Newcastle, having removed all mention of Brentford from his social media account earlier this week. However, Brentford has so far refused to sanction the forward’s departure. Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals last season.
