Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Thursday for a two-nation visit to Japan and Brazil. The trip will include a stopover in Dubai.
In Japan, President Tinubu will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama. The conference, which runs from August 20-22, will focus on Africa’s economic transformation and the promotion of a sustainable society. The president is also expected to hold bilateral meetings and meet with the chief executives of several Japanese companies with investments in Nigeria.
Following the conference, President Tinubu will travel to Brazil for a two-day state visit on the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The agenda includes a bilateral meeting between the two leaders and a business forum with Brazilian investors. A delegation of key ministers will accompany the president to explore opportunities for cooperation and sign agreements with the Brazilian government.
TICAD is a triennial conference that fosters high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners. It was initiated in 1993 by the Japanese government.
