Nigerian Pilots Suspended Over Safety Breach

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended two pilots from the airline ValueJet following a serious safety breach at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to a statement from the NCAA, the pilot and co-pilot began departure procedures on Tuesday without receiving mandatory pre-departure clearance. The authority stated that this “reckless action” endangered ground personnel and other airport users, violating civil aviation regulations.

The NCAA has taken immediate action by suspending the licences of the pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba. The suspension will remain in effect while a full investigation is carried out. The NCAA reiterated its commitment to upholding safety standards in the country’s aviation sector.
