LOKOJA, NIGERIA – The Kogi State Government has commended LugardTV, a local media platform, for its significant role in public engagement and the effective dissemination of government information. The commendation was delivered by Folashade Arike, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), representing Governor Ahmed Ododo, during the official flag-off of LugardTV’s month-long anniversary celebration.
The anniversary events, which commenced on Friday, July 18, 2025, included a community outreach programme and a novelty football match between “Team Ododo” and “Team Kogi All Stars” at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja.
Governor Ododo praised LugardTV’s management and staff for their “professionalism, innovation, and commitment to developmental journalism.” He noted that despite being less than a year old, the station has “proven its capacity to amplify government initiatives, promote transparency, and strengthen the link between government and the people.”
The Governor specifically applauded Ismaila Isah, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, for his leadership, which he said has positioned LugardTV as a “trusted platform for public communication in the state.”
Mr. Isah explained that the novelty football match was inspired by the Governor’s passion for sports and was included to foster unity and camaraderie within the Government House Media Team. He reaffirmed LugardTV’s commitment to enhancing professionalism, innovation, and content reach in line with the administration’s communication vision.
Players participating in the match wore black armbands as a tribute to two recently bereaved public officials: Yusuf Okala, father of the State Auditor-General, and the late husband of the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Rabietu Okute.
LugardTV’s anniversary celebrations are set to continue over the coming weeks with a series of activities focused on civic engagement, media innovation, and public enlightenment.
