Nigeria Immigration Service Launches Digital Platform for Expatriate Permits

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has unveiled a new digital platform for the application and processing of the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card (CERPAC), marking a significant step in modernising the country’s immigration system.

The online portal is now live, allowing individuals and organisations to electronically complete and submit expatriate permit applications. According to a statement signed by NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Akinlabi, this initiative is consistent with broader Federal Government reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, operational efficiency, and user experience across key public services.

The NIS has set August 1, 2025, as the deadline for a full transition to the digital system, after which manual submissions for CERPAC applications will no longer be accepted. This move is expected to streamline the process for expatriates living and working in Nigeria.
