Abuja, Nigeria – Nigerian Armed Forces air operations have reportedly neutralised a large number of terrorists along the border between Zamfara and Kebbi States. These “precision strikes,” carried out by the Air Components of Operation Fasan Yamma, targeted a convoy of armed terrorists in a remote corridor known for significant bandit activity.
According to a press release issued by Major General Markus Kangye, Director Defence Media Operations, on July 11, 2025, the decision for the coordinated air operation was based on “actionable intelligence” regarding the movement of the terrorist convoy. The convoy was suspected to be en route to communities where they planned to carry out attacks. Surveillance efforts confirmed the presence of armed bandits and their logistical supplies, prompting an immediate response.

The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of multiple motorcycles and the neutralisation of a “significant number” of terrorists. Ground assessments reportedly revealed a substantial disruption to the operational capacity of the terrorist group in the region. The statement highlighted this as a “successful mission” demonstrating the Nigerian military’s “unwavering commitment to eradicate terrorist threats and ensure the safety of citizens in the northwest region.”
General Kangye added that ongoing operations and follow-up missions are scheduled to prevent any potential regrouping of fleeing terrorist elements. The Nigerian Armed Forces expressed appreciation for the cooperation of local communities and reaffirmed their dedication to restoring peace and security across all affected areas. The military reiterated its “resolute stance” in combating terrorism as pivotal to safeguarding public well-being and maintaining regional stability.
