Air Strikes Devastate Bandit Convoy in Kebbi-Zamfara Region

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched precision airstrikes that have reportedly neutralised scores of armed bandits in the Kebbi-Zamfara axis. The operation, conducted on July 9, 2025, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeted a large convoy of migrating terrorists.

According to a press release issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, the strikes were based on real-time intelligence. This intelligence revealed the movement of nearly 150 motorcycles, each carrying approximately two armed terrorists, near Yarbuga in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

After positively identifying the hostile presence, NAF aircraft engaged the convoy with what the statement described as “devastating accuracy.” Survivors were observed fleeing on foot and motorcycles, as air assets maintained persistent overwatch and conducted follow-up strikes, effectively disrupting the bandits’ withdrawal routes.

Following the aerial assault, ground troops conducted a follow-up exploitation mission to Yarbuga village on the morning of July 10, 2025. At the scene, the remains of numerous terrorists and their weapons were discovered, along with several burnt motorcycles.

The Nigerian Air Force stated that this joint air-ground operation has dealt a significant blow to bandit networks in the region. It further underscored the NAF’s “unwavering commitment to protecting civilian lives, denying terrorists freedom of action and supporting ground forces to ensure lasting peace across the country.”
