Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is intensifying efforts to embed digital literacy into the country’s education system, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” which prioritises education, health, and social investment.
NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Abdullahi, along with his management team, recently met with the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration on integrating digital literacy into the basic education curriculum.
This visit follows NITDA’s ongoing engagements with other key education stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). These efforts are all geared towards advancing digital literacy across all levels of learning in Nigeria.
To ensure smooth implementation, a joint committee has been established to develop strategies for this digital literacy initiative. The goal is to equip young Nigerians with the essential digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven global landscape.
