Heightened Security at Nigeria’s Opposition Party Headquarters in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria – A significant police presence has been deployed at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of Nigeria’s main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for today.

Armed police officers were observed cordoning off Dalaba Street, the road leading to the secretariat.

An unnamed PDP official, speaking to Channels Television, claimed that the police deployment was intended to prevent a proposed Expanded Caucus Meeting from taking place. However, some party staff members were reportedly allowed to enter the premises without resistance from the police.

The increased security presence comes as the PDP grapples with internal dynamics ahead of key political activities.
