Jos, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has called for sustained policy advocacy to drive national development and bolster security efforts. Speaking at the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) in Kuru, Jos, the Minister emphasised the critical role of policymakers and security experts in shaping a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
The AGM, themed “Towards a New Nigeria,” was hosted by the Plateau State Government and brought together influential figures from diverse sectors.
In his address, Minister Badaru highlighted the significant progress made by the Nigerian military, in cooperation with other security agencies, in addressing the nation’s security challenges. “We have achieved meaningful strides in dismantling terrorist and bandit cells, neutralising hundreds of insurgents and their key leaders,” he stated.
The Minister, himself an alumnus of the National Institute, urged AANI members to intensify their advocacy and support for national security reforms. He stressed that the collective expertise within the Association is crucial for building a united, secure, and prosperous future for Nigeria. He also called on all members to renew their commitment to the Association’s ideals and work collaboratively towards a better society.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, and AANI President, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, among other esteemed alumni.
