Nigerian Defence Minister Hosts Local Leaders and Business Representatives

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar, has held separate meetings with former local government officials and business leaders from Dutse Emirate in Jigawa State. The gatherings took place over the weekend in his hometown.

The meetings followed the recent Eid al-Kabeer celebrations.

The Forum of Immediate Past Local Government Speakers from Jigawa State, consisting of former speakers who served while Mr Badaru Abubakar was the Governor of Jigawa State, conveyed their ongoing support for the Minister. They offered prayers for his success in strengthening national security.

Key figures present at this meeting included the Chairman of the ruling APC party in Jigawa State, Aminu Gumel, a member of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Abubakar Jallo, and a former local government chairman, Ahmed Rufai.

Separately, on Friday, representatives from the Dutse Emirate Traders Association visited the Minister at his residence in Kano to also mark the Eid al-Kabeer festival. The delegation, led by Yahaya Rungumau, praised the Minister’s efforts to improve security across Nigeria, stating that his work had created a better environment for trade and commerce.

The Defence Minister expressed his appreciation to both groups for their support and reiterated his commitment to enhancing national security and promoting economic development in Nigeria.
