Borno Governor Donates to Soldiers, Calls for Decisive Action Against Collaborators

Maiduguri, Nigeria – Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has announced a donation of N100 million (approximately $66,000 USD) to wounded soldiers and the families of those killed in action. The Governor made the announcement during a joint Sallah luncheon organised by the Chief of Army Staff at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri on Saturday.

During his address, Governor Zulum urged the military to deal decisively with anyone found to be collaborating with terrorists. “To me, the collaborators are more deadly than the terrorists, so anyone found guilty of collaborating with the terrorists, even if it is a woman or a public figure, should be dealt with ruthlessly,” he stated.

He also extended his gratitude to the armed forces for their commitment and bravery in combating terrorism in Borno State and across the wider North-East region of Nigeria.

Presenting the cheque to the Theatre Commander of the Joint Taskforce, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdussalam Abubakar, Governor Zulum specified that N500,000 (approximately $330 USD) would be allocated to each wounded soldier, with the remaining funds distributed among the families of those killed in action.

Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing support for the military’s efforts to end terrorism in the region. In response, Major General Abdussalam Abubakar assured the governor of the military’s continued commitment to sustaining peace across the North-East.
