Kogi State Bolsters Security with Vehicle Handover

Lokoja, Kogi State – Authorities in Nigeria’s Kogi State have handed over 16 refurbished operational vehicles to various security agencies, in a move aimed at bolstering crime-fighting efforts and protecting residents. The presentation, which took place in Lokoja on Thursday, underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing security across the state.


Speaking at the event, Funmilayo Bello, an Administrative Officer in the Governor’s office, emphasised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s dedication to public safety and the well-being of the populace. She highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy by Governor Ododo to tackle insecurity and foster an environment conducive to growth and development.


Air Vice Marshal Faruk Omeiza (Rtd), Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, commended Governor Ododo for strengthening the state’s security infrastructure and providing crucial support to law enforcement. He described the refurbished vehicles as vital tools for rapid response and effective operations by security personnel.


Deputy Commissioner of Police, Daba Mallam, who received the vehicles on behalf of the security agencies, expressed gratitude to the state government and pledged that the vehicles would be used effectively. Similar sentiments were echoed by Deputy Commandant Idonie Felix of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who affirmed that the new additions would significantly enhance their operational capabilities.


Representatives from other security organisations, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kogi State Vigilante Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service, also lauded the Governor’s focus on security and committed to continued partnership for a safer Kogi State.


The event also saw Yunusa Jimoh of Access Bank reiterating the bank’s commitment to supporting the security sector through strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility initiatives. The formal handover of the vehicles marks a significant step in the administration’s proactive approach to enhancing security across the state.
