Anambra 2025: INEC Publishes Candidate Details, Calls for Public Scrutiny

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the personal details of candidates vying for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, urging the public to examine the submitted documents.

Following the closure of party primaries, INEC confirmed that 16 political parties successfully uploaded their nomination forms by the stipulated deadline of 6 pm on Monday, 12th May 2025.

In accordance with the Electoral Act 2022, and as detailed in the election’s timetable, INEC has published the personal particulars of each candidate and their running mate. This includes copies of Form EC9, alongside academic credentials and other supporting documents, now available for public viewing at the INEC state headquarters and 21 local government offices across Anambra State.

INEC is calling on Nigerians to carefully scrutinise these documents. Any aspirant who participated in their party’s primaries and believes a candidate has provided false information is entitled to challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court, as outlined in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The final list of candidates will be published on 9th June 2025, 150 days prior to the election, as per Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Anambra State governorship election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 8th November 2025.
