Nollywood production “Seven Doors” was a major winner at the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held in Lagos on Saturday night. The film clinched two of the most prestigious accolades: Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo, who also co-directed the historical drama series, and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka.

“Seven Doors” tells the story of King Adedunjoye, a reluctant ruler burdened by a generational curse that compels him to marry six additional wives, despite his deep affection for his current wife, Amaka, played by Ms. Chukwuka. The series explores themes of tradition, sacrifice, and destiny.
The awards ceremony, which took place on May 10th, 2025, celebrated excellence in African film and television, bringing together leading figures from across the continent’s entertainment industry.
Veteran actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their significant contributions to African cinema. Director Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award, recognising his innovative and genre-bending impact on the industry.
Lateef Adedimeji’s film “Lisabi (The Uprising)” also enjoyed success, securing multiple awards in various categories.
