Kogi State Governor Inspects Projects, Promises Equitable Development in Central Region

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has concluded a five-day tour of ongoing infrastructure projects and community engagements across the five local government areas of the Kogi Central Senatorial District. The initiative, dubbed “Take Governance Closer to the People,” saw the governor inspect key projects in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori-Magogo, engaging directly with residents, community leaders, and contractors.

The tour focused on ensuring the quality and timely completion of vital infrastructure projects, including the Obangede–Okaito and Obangede-Oboroke roads in Okehi, and various road projects in Ihima. A significant focus was placed on the Ategoza bridge, a decades-old link between the former Kabba and Ebira divisions, and the Oziokutu bridge, connecting the Adavi and Okehi communities. Governor Ododo emphasised that these projects are designed to improve connectivity, stimulate rural economies, and enhance access to essential services.

During his inspections, Governor Ododo stressed the importance of high-quality work and timely delivery, stating that his administration would ensure value for money in infrastructure investments across the state. “We will not tolerate substandard work. The people of Kogi state deserve quality infrastructure, and that is what this government will deliver,” he said in Adavi.

Beyond project inspections, the governor also engaged with local communities, urging accountability from leaders and encouraging residents to take ownership of public infrastructure to prevent vandalism. In Ogori-Magongo, he attended the annual Ovia Osese Festival, pledging support for the revival of cultural heritage as a driver of unity, peace, and tourism.

In Okene, Governor Ododo attended a commendation service and met with stakeholders to address concerns about ongoing projects, youth unemployment, and women’s empowerment, promising inclusive infrastructure and social welfare plans. In Ajaokuta, he reaffirmed his commitment to completing projects in the area.

Throughout the tour, Governor Ododo assured residents that similar development efforts were underway in the Kogi East and Kogi West senatorial districts, with project monitoring teams conducting inspections across the state. “What we are doing in Kogi Central is also taking place in Kogi East and Kogi West… No part of the state is left behind,” he stated.

He also called on affluent members of communities to contribute to local development, emphasising that government efforts need to be complemented by citizen participation. Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects on time, ensuring that “no part of the state is left behind” in his drive for equitable development.
