Diaspora Urged to Support ‘Nigeria First’ Policy for National Development

The head of Nigeria’s Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerians living abroad to actively participate in the country’s reform efforts, particularly in support of the government’s new “Nigeria First Policy.”

In a recent video message, Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s introduction of the policy, which aims to prioritize Nigerian interests, promote locally manufactured goods, and encourage the use of domestic solutions in government procurement.

She stressed that the “Nigeria First Policy” comes at a crucial time and requires collaboration between Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to build a more sustainable and progressive nation.

“My brothers and sisters in the diaspora, this is an opportunity to key into this Initiative. This is an opportunity to bring your expertise, knowledge, and talents, back home to Nigeria,” Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa stated.

The NiDCOM Chairman assured Nigerians living abroad that the commission is prepared to partner with them in various capacities, especially in providing ideas and contributions related to the new policy.

The “Nigeria First Policy” is seen as a key component of the government’s strategy to boost the Nigerian economy and promote self-reliance. The NIDCOM Boss’ call to the diaspora underscores the government’s recognition of the valuable contributions that Nigerians living abroad can make to the country’s development
