Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has showcased a range of new digital tools aimed at strengthening the management and transparency of future elections. The unveiling took place today at a one-day retreat in Lagos.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, in his opening address at the Marriot Hotel in Ikeja, underscored the strategic significance of these technological advancements. “These mobile applications represent our commitment to leveraging technology for transparent and efficient elections,” Professor Yakubu stated. “They will transform everything from voter registration to results collation.”

The suite of digital applications demonstrated by INEC includes:
- CROMS (Collation & Returning Officers Management System): Designed to streamline the management of collation and returning officers.
- ERMS (Election Results Management System): Intended to enhance the process of managing and transmitting election results.
- VETS (Virtual Election Training System): An application for virtual training of election personnel.
- PFRAS (Political Party Financial Reporting System): A system for managing and monitoring the financial reporting of political parties.
- EMSC Dashboard (Election Monitoring & Support Center): A dashboard for real-time election monitoring and support.
- EFLOC (Electoral Facility Locator): An application designed to help locate electoral facilities.

The introduction of these digital tools signals INEC’s continued efforts to harness technology in order to improve the credibility and efficiency of Nigeria’s electoral processes.
