A high-level delegation from Nigeria’s Labour Party (LP), led by Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, has met with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to formally present a Supreme Court judgment related to the party’s leadership.
During the visit on Wednesday, Governor Otti submitted a Certified True Copy of the recent Supreme Court ruling to INEC officials. He stated that the meeting was intended to promote clarity, mutual understanding, and alignment between the party and the electoral body regarding the Labour Party’s current leadership structure.
The Labour Party delegation was received by INEC’s Acting Chairman, Sam Olumekun, and other National Commissioners. Discussions during the meeting reportedly focused on strengthening collaboration between the party and the electoral commission and reinforcing democratic principles.
Mr. Olumekun, representing INEC, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to neutrality, transparency and adherence to the rule of law in carrying out its constitutional duties.
