Nigerian President Tinubu to Hold Midterm Review in Paris Visit

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has departed for Paris, France, for a short working visit, during which he will conduct a review of his administration’s midterm performance.

According to a Statehouse press statement, the president will use the visit to assess key milestones achieved since taking office and to review the progress of ongoing reforms. He will also engage in strategic planning for the upcoming second anniversary of his administration.

A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), emphasised that this period of reflection will inform plans to deepen existing reforms and accelerate national development priorities in the coming year.

The Nigerian government has highlighted recent positive economic indicators, citing a report from the Central Bank of Nigeria showing a significant increase in net foreign exchange reserves to $23.11 billion. This represents a substantial rise from the $3.99 billion recorded in 2023, which the government attributes to its fiscal reforms.

While in Paris, President Tinubu will remain engaged with his team and continue to oversee governance activities. He is expected to return to Nigeria in approximately two weeks.

This visit comes as President Tinubu’s administration approaches its midterm mark, and the review is expected to shape the government’s priorities and strategies for the remainder of his term.
