Abuja – Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has commended President Bola Tinubu for initiating the second Niger Bridge access road and the reconstruction of the Asaba-Benin Expressway. He described the projects as being of “immense strategic importance” to the South-South and South-East regions, and to the country as a whole.
In a statement addressed to President Tinubu, Senator Nwoko, a member of the Senate Committee on Works, said the projects demonstrate the administration’s commitment to “economic integration, national cohesion, and infrastructural renewal.” He specifically highlighted the Asaba-Benin Expressway, which he said had been a “major source of concern” due to its deteriorated condition.
Senator Nwoko also acknowledged the Senate’s role in advocating for road rehabilitation, stating that the Senate, under Sen. Godswill Akpabio’s leadership, had passed a resolution mandating the maintenance and reconstruction of federal roads nationwide. He praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his “hands-on approach” and commitment to quality infrastructure. The senator expressed his anticipation for continued collaboration with the administration on further development initiatives.
