Kogi Pension Boss Assures Retirees of Transparent Benefit Payments

Lokoja – The Kogi State Government has assured retirees that they no longer need personal connections to receive their pension and gratuity payments. The Director-General of the Kogi State Pension Commission, Mariam Abedo, stated that a new technology-driven system has been implemented to ensure transparency and fairness in the payment process.

Speaking to the Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Ms. Abedo explained that once a retiree’s documentation is complete, their payment is processed without any undue influence. She noted that the commission is currently processing over 200 retirees daily and has made significant progress in clearing pension arrears due to consistent funding from the state government.

Ms. Abedo cautioned retirees against individuals claiming they can expedite payments, emphasizing that all entitlements are processed strictly on merit. She commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for prioritizing the welfare of pensioners and reassured retirees that payments would continue as funds are made available. The commission highlighted that the improved transparency and accountability have made the payment process smoother and more reliable for retirees in the state.
