Heathrow Airport has been forced to close for the entire day after a significant fire at a nearby electrical substation, which provides the airport’s power supply.
The London Fire Brigade is still battling the blaze, which has resulted in a power outage affecting Terminals 2, 4, and 5 at Heathrow, as well as approximately 5,000 homes in the surrounding area.

Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, has warned of “days of significant disruption” as a result of the incident. More than 1,350 flights are believed to be impacted on Friday alone.
The closure is expected to cause widespread disruption, with potential implications for flights beyond Heathrow.
