Kogi Governor Launches Initiative to Support Orphaned Students

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting orphaned students in the state, ensuring they receive quality education and welfare. Speaking at the launch of the Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care) initiative, the governor emphasized that no child should feel abandoned due to their parents’ death or financial situation.

Governor Ododo commended the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants for organizing the initiative, describing it as a testament to his administration’s policy of taking governance to the grassroots. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in governance, prioritizing service to the people, and addressing issues related to outstanding appointments within the ranks of grassroots supporters.

The governor urged the benefiting students to believe in themselves, avoid emotional setbacks, and remain steadfast, as their efforts would shape a brighter future. He also assured the forum of his administration’s commitment to sustaining the program, which would have a lasting impact on the state.

The Auditor General for Local Government in Kogi State, Yakubu Adabenege, praised the initiative, emphasizing its role in bridging the gap between the government and the people at the grassroots. He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the resources provided wisely, stressing the need to sustain the program for collective progress and lasting impact.

This initiative is part of Governor Ododo’s efforts to improve the lives of Kogi State citizens, particularly vulnerable groups like orphans. His administration has also launched other programs, such as the Access to Care Program, which aims to provide healthcare services to 32,000 enrolees.
