US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing federal agencies to take a hardline stance on immigration, ordering them to “repel, repatriate, and remove illegal aliens” across the southern border of the US.
This move marks a significant shift in the country’s immigration policy, with the Trump administration seeking to crack down on illegal immigration. The order also calls for the revocation of certain memoranda and guidance issued by the previous administration, which the Trump administration views as too lenient on immigration.
In a separate move, the Trump administration has suspended all refugee travel to the US, citing concerns over national security. This decision has sparked widespread criticism from human rights groups and other organizations.
Meanwhile, President Trump has also been engaging in diplomatic efforts, urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to make a deal to end the conflict in Ukraine. Trump has warned that if a deal is not reached soon, the US will impose economic penalties on Russia. The Russian ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, has responded by saying that the meaning of the proposed “deal” needs to be clarified.
